A few good questions

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Booking, access and your setup. The practical stuff, all in one place.

Getting started

Is Dorkey right for my business?

Dorkey connects booking, payments, timed access through compatible locks and an admin dashboard. We manage the implementation with you. Music practice and rehearsal rooms, photo studios and other private rental spaces are a good place to start.

Can I try it before we talk?

Yes. Try the guest booking flow or explore the sample workspace. Both use sample bookings, payments and codes. The full dashboard tour asks for your email first; it also uses sample data.

What does it cost to get started?

Contact sales for a quote. There’s a monthly subscription per location, plus one-time setup. Three bookable rooms or bays are included at each location; additional spaces cost extra. Unused spaces don’t carry over to another location.

Monthly service includes hosting, maintenance, standard updates and operator support. Payment processing, hardware, installation, third-party access and custom work are separate. We’ll agree on the scope before implementation.

Which Dorkey package fits my space?

Dorkey Web — a Dorkey-branded web experience.

Dorkey App — the web experience, plus the Dorkey-branded mobile app.

Your Brand — your name, logo and colors on web, iOS and Android experiences.

Every package includes booking, payments, timed access through compatible locks and an admin dashboard. We handle setup with you and confirm app availability and launch scope before work begins. See the guest journey.

Can I add more tools to my dashboard?

Yes. Email marketing CRM and booking optimization are optional modules, each with an additional monthly subscription. Try them in the dashboard preview with sample data, then contact sales to agree the scope and price before activation. Trying a preview does not start a subscription.

The CRM helps you plan email campaigns to fill quiet slots, encourage another booking and bring past guests back. Choose an audience from marketing permission and booking history, then create an email with a link to book. The preview uses sample guests and illustrative results; live sending and booking attribution require a connected setup.

Staff Scheduling and Staff Access are additional concepts in development. Explore both perspectives and the access timeline in the sample; scope and pricing are not yet finalized.

The optimizer suggests ways to fit flexible requests around confirmed visits, working hours and turnaround times. With the module enabled, your team can opt into automatic suggestions: the open planner updates as requests and availability change. Manual planning is also available. These are suggested schedules for review; confirmed bookings stay fixed.

Booking & branding

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Web booking is included in every package, so guests can use their browser and enter their code on a compatible lock’s keypad. Mobile apps are part of Dorkey App and Your Brand; Dorkey Web does not include a mobile app.

Does every booking need a payment?

The demo shows paid bookings, and payment collection comes with every package. If you don’t charge for a visit, tell us how it works so we can confirm the flow during scoping. There’s no Dorkey booking commission or guest subscription; payment processing fees are separate.

Can I keep my website and branding?

You can keep your website and add a button that opens Dorkey in a window, or links to your booking page. Every package can show your venue name, photos and details. Your own logo and colors throughout the product are included only with Your Brand.

Your Brand has a 12-month commitment and licenses the existing Dorkey product. Dorkey retains ownership. See how web booking fits into your site.

Are SMS messages included?

SMS is excluded from every base package. Transactional booking texts are an optional paid add-on only for Your Brand, with the available messages and sender approval confirmed during setup. SMS isn’t available with Dorkey Web or Dorkey App.

Doors & support

Will it work with my locks?

See the smart-lock compatibility guide for specific models, connection methods and keypad or hub requirements. Send us your exact model and how it’s connected so we can confirm your setup. Hardware, installation and third-party access costs are separate from the package.

What happens when the booked time ends?

The code expires when its access window ends. Your lock settings and closing procedure still matter: code expiry doesn’t confirm that the door is closed or that the guest has left. We’ll work through those details together.

Does my space have to be unstaffed?

No. Timed access can help staffed venues manage arrivals too. The right level of self-service depends on your space, hardware and the support you have in place for guests.

Can I schedule staff and connect their door access?

Explore our Staff Scheduling concept: draft a week, review employee requests, publish changes and see employee acknowledgments. Pairing it with Staff Access would give published, approved assignments their own door-access windows. Drafts do not grant entry. These modules are in development; live scheduling, employee sign-in, delivery and device connections are not activated by the sample.

Can I see when a staff credential was used?

The Staff Access concept includes a filterable, exportable sample timeline. In a connected deployment, timestamps, credential identity and denied attempts depend on what the exact lock or access system reports. Event time and receipt time are kept separate so delayed reports do not appear to have happened later. Credential use supports an investigation timeline; it is not proof of who entered or what was taken. We agree supported events and retention before launch.

Could I use Dorkey for a pet sitter or short-term rental?

We are exploring a smaller single-property offering. Timed windows suit sitters, cleaners and stays that need repeat entry; a true one-use credential ends after its first successful use and needs specific hardware support. See home and short-stay examples. There is no live home plan or Airbnb connection yet.

Who helps guests if something goes wrong?

Your monthly service includes operator support from Dorkey. Guests still need a clear way to reach your team. We plan arrival instructions and entry exceptions with you, so someone knows what to do when a guest needs help.
